ipsy Glam Bag! Beautifully Bohemian April

by , in
What's this? Is this an April Glam Bag review done by yours truly before she receives her May Glam Bag? Is Kaitlin finally getting it together and doing something timely? The answer to all these questions is yes! Or at least I'm trying to be better. Anyways, on to this Glam Bag review!
The theme for April was Beautifully Bohemian, and honestly I didn't understand the concept behind the theme. To me (and the dictionary) the word bohemian means a person who has informal and unconventional social habits. Also fun fact, a Bohemian is a person from Bohemia which is in the Czech Republic. I think with the bohemian theme they truly meant a free spirit or no collar lifestyle, at least that's how they promoted it on social media. Anyways, the makeup bag itself is very cute, I love the style it almost looks like it's a woven or straw textile, I'm not super sure how to classify it. Another great thing with this bag is that it is way bigger compared to all the other ones I've received. Hey ipsy, can all the Glam Bags be this size? Well inside my Beautifully Bohemian Glam Bag I received: Hey Honey Good Morning - Honey Silk Facial Serum, Hikari Cosmetics Blush, theBalm Cosmetics NUDE Dude Eyeshadow Single, Starlooks Satin Finish Lip Gloss and Mullein & Sparrow Mini Lip & Cheek Tint.

First we have the Hey Honey Good Morning - Honey Silk Facial Serum, which is basically just a honey moisturizer. I love that it isn't tested on animals, that's always a big plus for me! The facial serum had a good texture, it was very creamy, and it didn't smell bad, it honestly smelt like honey. It made my face soft and brighter which is always good and what a moisturizer is supposed to do!

Next we have the Hikari Cosmetics Blush in the Tango shade, which is a bright pink. I was pleasantly surprised with this blush, I love the size, it was a full size blush! The blush was very smooth and went well on my skin. The color also gave my complexion a bright rosy cheek.

Then we have the theBalm Cosmetics NUDE Dude Eyeshadow Single in the Flirty shade, which is a metallic purple brown tone. The color combination sounds odd but it actually is very pretty and it's a nice neutral tone that shines and shimmers. And the eyeshadow goes on really well and lasts very long! One thing I really like about this was the packaging, which is a shirtless man, and his torso is the eye shadow. I thought it was really funny, clever and creative.

Next we have the Starlooks Satin Finish Lip Gloss in the Cuddle shade, which is a natural nude color. I never really have much to say about lip gloss but this was actually a really good lipgloss. It wasn't sticky, it lasted a long time and you didn't need to reapply constantly and there wasn't a terrible after taste. The lip gloss also made my lips shiny and glossy and it just felt good on my lips!

Lastly we have the Mullein & Sparrow Mini Lip & Cheek Tint. The dictionary defines tint as a shade or variety of color. However when I put this "tint" on my lips and cheeks there was no color or shade at all! It was clear! So this product simply confuses me. This didn't add any color for me, instead, I used this almost like a highlighter and placed it along my cheek bones for contouring and that's really the only use I have for this product.

Overall, the April Glam Bag turned out a lot better than I anticipated, seeing all the promotions for the "bohemian" themed bag got me worried and made me think I wouldn't like anything. But I was pleasantly surprised and I ended up enjoying most of the products! I'd give this Glam Bag 4/5 stars! I can't wait to see what's in the May Glam Bag and until next time!

ipsy Glam Bags! February ipsy Love and March Floral Fantasy

by , in
Here I am yet again falling behind on my Glam Bag reviews, work and life have been hectic and I did a lot of traveling in March. But I'm back on track and ready to get back to work on my passion. This lovely blog of mine. If you're reading this, I just want to say thank you for reading, whether one person or one hundred people read my blog, I'm just happy someone is reading it. Anyways let's get to this double header of ipsy Glam Bags!

First let's start off with the February Glam Bag, which was themed #ipsyLOVE, perfect for Valentine's Day. The bag itself, was cute and pink with an awesome geometric pattern, perfect for the month of love! Inside my Glam Bag were the Eva NYC Up All Night Volumizing Spray, the Mitchell and Peach Fine Radiance Face Oil, the Emite Make Up Professional Eye Lash Curler, the City Color Cosmetics Creamy Lip Stain and the ModelCo BLUSH Cheek Powder.

First we have the Eva NYC Up All Night Volumizing Spray and overall I thought it was okay. I never use any volumizing sprays or much hair product in general, so I'm kind of a newbie when it comes to it. I love that the spray wasn't sticky and smelly but a major thing for me was that it did not add much volume to my hair. However this product can also be a heat protecting spray, which is the primary reason why I use it.

Next we have the Mitchell and Peach Fine Radiance Face Oil and this product surprised me. At first I was scared to use this product because it was an oil and I was worried it would make my skin oily and greasy. But since I have a tendency to get dry skin rather than oily skin, the face oil helped soothe and soften my skin. Also with the way the bottle is, the top is sort of like an eye dropper so only a little amount of oil comes out at once. A Youtuber I enjoy watching, Ingrid Nilsen, actually recommended this face oil in one of her videos from February! So there's two people who enjoyed this face oil for sure.

Then we have the Emite Make Up Professional Eye Lash Curler and I was very scared to use this product. I received an email from ipsy, warning those who received the eye lash curler may receive a broken or misaligned one. Thankfully I did not receive a misaligned one! But I was still wary to use it. The first time I used it I didn't like it but then I tried it again and I ended up loving it. Currently, my eye lash curler is one that I bought from Wal Mart, and it is just a generic brand. After I got more comfortable with the Emite eye lash curler, it started to work better than my normal one. The Eimite curler actually is a really good eye lash curler, it made my eyelashes nice and long. Here's a little tip for when you're using an eye lash curler heat the curler with a hair dryer that way it doesn't pinch and hurt your lashes!

Next we have the City Color Cosmetics Creamy Lip Stain, and I received the "Flirtini" shade. I've never used a lip stain before until ipsy so this one is the second lip stain I've used in my entire life and what I've learned about lip stains is that they are a hybrid between lipstick and lipgloss. Anyways, when I saw the color I was really excited I thought it was going to be a bright pink color but the packaging is misleading. Instead of a bright pink lip, I ended up having a dark pink lip. Even though it is not the color I wanted, I still like it. The only things that I don't like about this lip stain are that the color does not last long at all for me and the terrible after taste.

Lastly, we have the ModelCo BLUSH Cheek Powder and I received the 'Cosmopolitan' shade. I absolutely loved this shade, it was a beautiful ballerina pink which matched perfectly with my complexion. The blush was soft and felt great on my cheeks and gave me a perfect and natural rosy blush! I love this blush and I highly recommend it.

The February Glam Bag had some major hits like the face oil and blush! And I also didn't completely hate anything so that's a really good sign. Overall I'd give this Glam Bag 3.5 stars! Let's see how the March Glam Bag did!

The March Glam Bag was themed Floral Fantasy, which was cute seeing that spring was on its way. The Glam Bag itself was adorable, I'm a huge fan of floral prints. In this Glam Bag I received: Coolway Glow Oil Treatment for hair, Pixi by Petra Mesmerizing Mineral Duo eyeshadow, NYX Cosmetics Butter Lipstick, pūr~lisse beauty pūr~delicate gentle soymilk cleanser & makeup remover, and Boo-Boo Cover-Up concealer.

First we have the Coolway Glow Oil Treatment, which is an oil for your hair. I've never used a hair oil before, shocking right? The oil was alcohol and cruelty free, which is always good and something I respect. Overall, I liked the hair oil, it made my hair shiny and soft and it smelt really good. The one thing I didn't like about this product was the packaging. I had to cut off the tip of the applicator to get any of the oil out.

Next we have the Pixi by Petra Mesmerizing Mineral Duo eyeshadow in the shade Apricot Glow. I liked the the shade, it was a nice bronze color and was very shimmery. The shadow gave my eyes a nice natural glow and shimmer and the duo pairs very well together.

Then we have the NYX Cosmetics Butter Lipstick and I received the Pops shade. On the ipsy website, the color looks like a light pink brown however this is not the case at all, it is definitely a nude brown shade. The other two shades available were a pink and a purple and I wish I would have gotten one of those instead. This lipstick is a satin lipstick and it is also a hydrating lipstick. I love how hydrating it is, but I am not a fan of satin. Satin lipsticks never stay long on me, and I prefer matte.

Next we have the pūr~lisse beauty pūr~delicate gentle soymilk cleanser & makeup remover. This cleanser is supposed to remove dirt and even mascara while soothing skin. It does a decent job getting rid of my makeup, a way better job compared to other cleansers that I've used. But I still had to cover what the cleanser missed with one of my make up remover wipes. It made my skin slightly softer but didn't keep it from getting dry and I had to still use moisturizer after.

And lastly we have the Boo-Boo Cover-Up concealer which I received the medium shade. I was so excited to receive this concealer, I had been wanting to redeem it with my ipsy points so I was saving up! But lucky for me, ipsy matched it into my Glam Bag! I absolutely love this concealer because it covers up all my imperfections and it actually contains healing ingredients! This concealer works amazingly, it's soft on my skin and covers perfectly.

So with the March Glam Bag, there were some hits and misses. The concealer was a big win for me, while everything else was just okay. Overall I'd give this Glam Bag 3/5 stars! I can't wait to (finally) open up my April Glam Bag and see what's inside! Until next time!

DIY! Make Your Own Disney Letters

by , in

One of my favorite activities and stress relievers is crafting and doing little DIY projects. Now last year I made these Disney letters for my sorority's recruitment, and they were a big hit. I like to think they turned out pretty well, so I thought I would share how to do these for all you fellow Disney loving crafters out there! I got all my supplies at Michael's craft store but every local craft store should have your basic supplies and the items you'll need.

So let's start with Minnie! You'll need black, white and red paint, red ribbon, a hot glue gun and tape. If you're like me and you can't draw or paint a circle to save your life, you'll also need paper, a hole puncher, and mod podge. So what I did first was place tape in the middle of my D where I wanted it to remain white. You obviously then paint the top side of your letter black and bottom side of your letter red. Once it dries, take the red ribbon, tie a little bow and then use the hot glue gun to stick the bow where ever you please, I chose the top left corner on my D. Next what I did was the little polka dots, if you're confident with your circle and dot painting skills by all means go for it and paint them on with the white paint. However, if you have no confidence in your circle and dot painting skills, like myself, then take a white piece of paper and use the hole puncher to make however many dots you think you'll need. Honestly, I think I made way too many and put way too many on my Minnie, but do whatever you think looks best! If you want more dots, go for it, if you want less, do less! Now if you're scared to use mod podge, don't worry, it's just fancy glue. You take one circle, put some mod podge on the back of it and then stick it down on the letter! Now, do that for however many circles you want and then once they've dried for 10-15 minutes take a paint brush and brush over all of the circles on the letter. And voila, it gives it a glossy effect! Now take off the tape slowly and carefully, you don't want to get paint anywhere on the white. But if have my luck, it will happen no matter how careful you are. So that's why I like to go over the white part with the white paint to make sure I can correct any of my mistakes.

Next we have Mickey's pal and loyal companion, Pluto. You'll need dark yellow and green paint, a printout or a drawing of a dog bone, tape and a hot glue gun. So what I did first was similar to the Minnie, I put the tape in the middle of my P that way I wouldn't get any yellow paint where I wanted to paint it green. So obviously, you'll paint your letter dark yellow and let it dry. Then take the tape off so then you can paint the center line green, like Pluto's collar. I decided to add tape to the two sides where there was yellow so it would be easier to paint the green line and not have it look so messy. So after that was dry, I took the dog bone printout that I found, by googling dog bone printout, and I cut it out and hot glued it to the bottom left corner of my P.

Then we have good old Donald Duck! What you'll need is bright blue and white paint, red ribbon, a hot glue gun, tape and a printout or a drawing of Donald Duck's hat. As done previously, use tape to mark a divider for the top to be blue and the bottom to be white. Once done painting let it dry and take the red ribbon and make a bow and hot glue it on the middle of the letter. Lastly you'll take the print out or drawing of Donald's hat and hot glue it on the top of your letter.

Next we have Goofy, what you'll need is orange and bright blue paint, tape, a hot glue gun and a print out or drawing of Goofy's hat. As you've done with all the other letters, place the tape as a divider so the top can be orange and the bottom can be bright blue. After you let it dry, take the print out or drawing of the hat and hot glue it to the top of your letter. Personally, I think Goofy took me the least amount of time because it is so simple to do and there aren't that many steps to it, also the fact that I used the letter I for it made it that much easier.
Last but not least, we have the king of all the classic Disney characters, Mickey Mouse. What you'll need to make Mickey is red, black and white paint, tape, hot glue gun and two white buttons. And like all the other letters take the tape and place it on the letter where you'd want it to remain white. Then you'll paint the top black and the bottom red and once that is dry and you remove the tape you can add white to the unpainted section. After it all dries you'll take the hot glue gun and glue the two buttons on the top part of the red side of the letter.

And there you go, a quick little guide on how to make some of these classic Disney characters wooden letters. With the letters I got from Michael's they had a hook in the back to hang them up with a nail, so hanging them on my bedroom wall was extremely easy! Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed! Good luck crafting and until next time!

ipsy Glam Bag: January 2015, A Fresh Start

by , in
Well here we are back again with another ipsy Glam Bag post. For the first Glam Bag of 2015, the theme "Fresh Start" is completely an obvious choice. A new year, a new me right? Personally I think the theme is cute and it goes well with the bag because I received a bunch of new brands and I couldn't wait to try them all out! First off I want to start with how much I love this Glam Bag itself. I think the makeup bag is very cute and I love the colors, one side is blue, the other white and the ipsy tag is orange. Way too cute! Good job ipsy!
The first product I want to talk about is the Coastal Scents Liquid Eyeliner. I received the Jet shade. The first thing I noticed about this eyeliner is that it is really runny and watery. I accidentally dropped the bottle in my sink and it splattered all over. My sink looked like it had an oil spill. When using this eyeliner you have to be very careful, it does not dry instantly and I can't tell you how many times I had to fix it because it wasn't dry. I even used an eye base to make sure it would dry faster and stay longer. Liquid eyeliner in general takes a lot of patience but I think I'm going to stick with my Tokidoki and Makeup Forever liquid eyeliners. The one thing I do love about this eyeliner is that it does stay on all day and all night. I didn't wash my makeup off last night (I know, bad Kaitlin) and this eyeliner is still on. So I can't complain about that.

Next we have the Elizabeth Mott All Over Shadow Brush. This brush is so cute and I love that it came in pink! It's so fun and flirty. But not only is it cute, it actually does an amazing job! It's so soft on your skin and it doesn't cake on too much eye shadow and it blends very well. It's perfect and I love it! I highly recommend getting it. Thank you so much ipsy!

Then we have the La Fresh Eco-Beauty Be Good. Good Day. Day Moisturizer. This product is cruelty free! Which I always love, however I'm not a fan of the packaging. It came in a little little plastic tube that kind reminded me of toothpaste. However the moisturizer is not like toothpaste at all. It had an odd smell to it, which I still can not describe, but the smell isn't a turn off. Overall the moisturizer is very good, it makes the skin softer, as it should. It takes a little bit of time to absorb but that was probably because I used too much at one time.

Next we have the Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow. In my second Glam Bag I received Pacifica eyeliner and I did not like it when I first used it, but times have changed. I gave it another shot and loved it. So I'm sorry for ever saying anything bad about Pacifica. But anyways, back to the eyeshadow. I received the Ethereal shade which is a really light and neutral tone. I actually heard about this eye shadow from Youtuber, Miss Glamorazzi herself, Ingrid Nilsen. She had nothing but great things to say about it, so when I got it in my Glam Bag I was super excited. Ingrid was right, this eye shadow is amazing. It's light and refreshing and I just love it!

Last but not least we have the Velvet 59 Velvet Rose Lipgloss which was a nude cocoa shade. There's not much to say about this, it's lip gloss, it makes my lips shiny and sticky. It is a nice neutral tone, and that's pretty much it.

My look using all the Glam Bag products!

Overall I'd give this January Glam Bag 3.5/5 stars! Not too bad ipsy, I got lucky and got two amazing products and the rest were so so. I didn't hate anything in this Glam Bag so that's definitely a good start to the New Year! I can't wait to see what ipsy has in store for me in 2015! Until next time!

From Baseball to History, Boston Has It All.

by , in

As I sit here thinking about what to pack for my upcoming Angels Fan Cruise vacation, I can't help but recall my last Angels Vacation: Boston. Over the summer, I was lucky enough to go to Boston to see my favorite baseball team, the Angels play the Red Sox at the legendary Fenway Park. Now how and why did I get to do this? Well every year, the Angels host a vacation package for fans to go see several games in one city. The Angels also put on a Fan Cruise (which I'm going on this week!) and a trip to Spring Training (I'll be there too!). Anyways, with the package, you get a certain amount of days (you can also extend your stay), a tour of the city, tickets to baseball games (the amount varies), a tour of the stadium, and a brunch with Angels players and staff. How awesome is that?

So because of Angels Vacations, I was able to go to Boston, a city I have always wanted to see! Boston has a certain charm to it, it's modern yet still old fashioned. Boston, is indeed America's oldest city, the Puritans settled there in 1630 and Boston was home to many historic events like the Boston Massacre and Boston Tea Party. If you think about it, Boston is the place where the Revolutionary War started.

With my package, I was given the chance to take the "Duck Tour" to see the city, which is a tour that goes on land and water. However, I decided not to do that. I was lucky enough to have my boyfriend join me on this trip, and he had been to Boston plenty of times and he suggested we should walk The Freedom Trail. The Freedom Trail is a red line on the sidewalk leads you throughout Boston. It's a 2.5 mile, self-guided tour of Revolutionary sites, which starts at the Boston Common park and ends at the Bunker Hill Monument. Personally, I'd rather walk through a new city than take a bus tour, plus it's a free tour and free is good. I got to see everything I wanted from Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, and even the Old North Church.

Walking the Freedom Trail will take up most of the day and be very tiring, but the best was ending the day at the harbor and watching the sunset. Now I don't know about you, but it was always a dream of mine to throw some tea into the Boston Harbor. Unfortunately, the Starbucks near the harbor ran out of lemonade, so my dream of dumping the rest of my passion tea lemonade did not happen. Sigh.
So the main reason why I got to go to Boston this past summer was to see the legendary Fenway Park, and to see the 2013 World Series Champions, the Boston Red Sox take on my team, the Angels. If you're a huge baseball fan, you know that Fenway Park is the oldest park in the MLB and is full of history. It was opened in 1912 and since the park is so old it has been renovated many times and has some quirky features, like the Green Monster, a 37 foot high wall in left field. When I toured the stadium, they took us up to the seats in that area and man those are nice. Since Fenway is an older ballpark, there's a lot of poles that can cause an obstructed view. I highly recommend taking a tour of Fenway, but the reason I enjoyed taking the tour was because I got the chance to watch the teams take batting practice. Let me tell you, watching Albert Pujols, Big Papi and Yoenis Cespedes take batting paractice was definitely the coolest thing I'd ever seen. Watching three games at Fenway was unbelievable. Fenway definitely is America's ballpark.

Now here's the actual reason why I love to travel with Angels Vacations, at the end of the trip there is a brunch with Angels players and staff! This year I got to meet Bench Coach: Dino Ebel (who I've met several times already), and Relief Pitchers Kevin Jepsen (Traded now. Waahhh) and Mike Morin! At the brunch we get food (yum!) and there is also a Q&A, so you can ask them everything you ever wanted to know. Personally, I think Dino tells the best stories.

Kevin Jepsen and I
Dino Ebel and I
Mike Morin and I

I love traveling and Angels baseball, if you want to have a vacation that combines both I suggest booking a trip with Angels Vacations! The next trips coming up are for Spring Training and a trip to Seattle to watch the Angels take on the Mariners. I'm not sure if any other teams do things like this but go and check out your favorite team's website to see if they do!

ipsy Glam Bags: November + December!

by , in
Hello 2015! It's a new year and you know what that means, resolutions. So here I am officially starting mine, you'll never guess what it is. Writing more and more on this lovely blog of mine! Maybe even try some new forms of media. Who knows, but anyways, I want to take this time to finally finish up my reviews of my last two Glam Bags from 2014.
Let's start with the November Glam Bag, and the theme was "Girl Meets Glitter." Now I love glitter, so I'm already in love with this concept and I have a good feeling about this Glam Bag. Personally I think this is the best make up bag I've gotten from ipsy, it's cute and glittery and it's actually from Forever 21. What's not to love so far?

The first item I got in my Glam Bag was the Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Eye Base. I received the Submissive shade, which was a neutral tone with a little bit of glitter. The eye base was soft and smooth and appeared lightly on my skin. I've never used an eye base before, and now I think I'm going to start using it more often because it made my eyeliner last longer and made it brighter. It also helps eyeshadow stay on longer and not fade away throughout the day.

The next item I got was the J. Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paint. I received the Red Potion shade, which was a red/wine color. I absolutely loved this color but the product itself is extremely messy and runny. However the thing I liked best about the lip stain was that it stayed on my lips for a good amount of time. The only time it would fade was when I drank something. The lip stain works really well when you wear lip gloss over it.

Then there is the Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Volume Shine Hairspray. I don't use hairspray very often because my hair is naturally straight but on the rare occasion when I want to attempt to curl my hair, hairspray is necessary. What I really liked about this hairspray is that it wasn't sticky like other hairsprays I've tried and it actually smelled really good. It also added volume to my hair and made it fuller than normal.

Next there is the Starlooks Gem Eye Pencil and I received the Ultra Orchid shade. I did not like this eyeliner at all. First off, I disliked the color because it was a glitter purple shade and I know personally I'll hardly ever wear it. I went through the crazy color eyeliner phase during high school and my makeup taste has matured within the past eight years, I prefer normal neutral tones. Also the main thing that bothered me with this eyeliner is that it seems very cheap, right after I applied it to one eye, it fell apart and crumbled and I had to resharpen it. It also does not dry fast at all and smears very easily.

And lastly in the November Glam Bag, we have the TEMPTU S/B Highlighter. In my October Glam Bag, I received the Doll10 Highlighter and fell in love with it so when I saw I had another highlighter I got really excited. The TEMPTU Highlighter is not as good as the Doll10 one, but it's still not bad. I love how ipsy included on the item page tips and instructions on how to use the product. I used the highlighter on my nose and cheeks and it made them really soft. The only con about this highlighter is that is really runny.
My look using all the products in the November Glam Bag

If I had to rank my November Glam Bag I'd give it 2.5/5 stars. I was a little disappointed with this Glam Bag. But now let's see if the December Glam Bag did better. The December Glam Bag theme was "Thinking Of You," which was perfect for the holiday season.

The first item I got was the Beauty Without Cruelty A.H.A. 3% Facial Cleanser. As a vegetarian and animal lover, I love that this cleanser is vegan friendly and cruelty free. However there's nothing memorable about this cleanser, it didn't do anything special for my face. But it did feel nice on my skin but that's basically it.

Next we have CAILYN Cosmetics Just Mineral Eye Polish in the Orchid shade. In my first Glam Bag I received a CAILYN lip gloss that I loved and now I've received an eye polish. I'm in love with all these CAILYN products. The eye polish is amazing, I love the color, it's a nice neutral glitter tone. I used a light cream eye crayon and then put the eye polish on and it lasted for a long time. I love how the eye polish has an applicator that comes with it. This product is amazing and easy to use and I just love it.

Now we have the NYX Cosmetics Butter Lip Balm and I received the Marshmallow shade. I already love NYX, I use their lipsticks all the time, they're one of my favorite makeup brands, so I was excited to receive the lip balm. This lip balm is cruelty free and that is amazing! The lip balm is very soft and feels great on my lips. The only thing I didn't like about this lip balm was the color, I'm not a huge fan of light brown color, I would much rather have a pink or red color.

The next item in my Glam Bag was the Sexy Hair 450° Blow Out Heat Defense Blow Dry Spray Mini. I've used Sexy Hair before for styling spray but I've never used their heat defense spray. It was okay, it didn't really help cut down the drying time with my hair but it did make my hair a little softer.

And last but definitely not least, we have the tarte deluxe lights, camera, lashes™ 4-in-1 mascara. I love tarte, they're one of my favorite brands, this mascara was perfect! I only had to apply it two or three times and I had longer lashes just like that. It also made my lashes very full. I think I have a new favorite mascara.
My look using all the products in the December Glam Bag

Overall I'd give my December Glam Bag 3.5/5 stars. A better improvement from the November Glam Bag. I can't wait to see what January has in store! As always feel free to join me on ipsy by clicking here! Also if you're already on ipsy feel free to connect with me! Thanks for reading and until next time, which I promise will be soon!

Dancing With The Stars Season 19, What A Season!

by , in

When Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) comes to mind, you can’t help but think about a bunch of D-List and uninteresting celebrities making fools of them on the dance floor. I haven’t watched DWTS for couple years but once I found out who was casted on this season, I knew I had to watch it.

Since I've last watched DWTS there have been new twists added to the show. Like a fourth judge for example. I thought three was enough, and I don’t think Julianne Hough should be a judge, she comes off very biased. Honestly I think America should just be the fourth judge. I also don’t like Erin Andrews as a co-host, she can come off rude a lot of times when talking to the contestants.

One thing that I've enjoyed about this season is most weeks have a specific theme, and the themes have all been really interesting. Week 1 was an introduction so there was not a set theme, Week 2 was "My Jam Monday," Week 3 was "Movie Night," Week 4 was "Most Memorable Year Night," Week 5 was "Switch-Up Night," Week 6 was did not have a specific theme, Week 7 was "Halloween Night," Week 8 was "Dynamic Duos Night" and Week 9 was "America's Choice/Trio Challenge.” But anyways, let's get to the most important thing, the contestants!

Lolo Jones, the Olympian, and the first one voted off. Her movements were so stiff and she just looked so uncomfortable and it made her Cha Cha awkward to watch. I feel bad for her partner Keo, it was his first time on the show and he’s a good dancer. Hopefully next season will work out better for Keo.

Tavis Smiley, talk show host, and second voted off. He didn’t do so badly his first week but time restrictions and stress were his downfall in the second week. He looked like he didn’t know the dance well and did not seem confident at all.

Randy Couture, a UFC fighter, I think he got voted off a little too early. He started off well and showed character and personality when he danced. I really thought he was going to go farther in the competition and get better every week. I think it was extremely messed up to tell him he was in jeopardy right before he was about to dance his Paso Doble.

Betsey Johnson, she is one of my favorite fashion designers! Oh my what a ball of energy for a 72 year old. I'm amazed she can do the splits with no problem! Betsey only got better with her time on DWTS. Her first dance was a hot mess because of the boa and she was punished for it. With the rest of her time on DWTS she was graceful and careful to make sure every move was correct. She was fun to watch on the show, I wish she would have stayed a little bit longer!

Jonathan Bennett, aka Aaron Samuels from “Mean Girls,” gosh will someone tell him he looks sexy with his hair pushed back? I think Jonathan got voted off way too early and it isn’t fair. He had so much fun while he danced and he was fun to watch, but I don’t think the judges ever saw any potential in him. When he would do something wrong, his scores were punished but if someone else did the same thing their scores weren’t effected. For example, when Jonathan performed his Cha Cha to “Sing,” the judges were brutal about the choreography not being traditional. However, when Sadie Robertson did a jazz routine to a country song that did not mix well at all she was praised for it by everyone except Len. Of course Jonathan wasn’t the best dancer, but he was getting better with time. His “Mean Girls” samba was so fetch and perfect. His last dance, the “Men In Black” jazz routine was awesome and his best dance, he finally got decent scores from the judges and was sadly voted off.

Antonio Sabato Jr., a gorgeous soap star and model, man those Calvin Klein ads are nice to look at. I expected Antonio to be much better than he actually was, there were times when he’d dance well, but then there were times when he was not so well. What I’ve noticed is that Antonio is stiff when he dances except when he moves his hips. Whenever Antonio dances he has fun and he always has a good attitude!

Michael Waltrip, the race car driver, I didn't expect him to be around for very long. Michael was a surprise this season because he isn’t a great dancer but he has such a lovable and charismatic personality. When Michael dances he can be very stiff but he tries very hard every week and looks like he’s always having a fun time.

Lea Thompson, actress from “Back to the Future” and currently plays Kathryn Kennish on “Switched At Birth.” When I found out she was a ballet dancer, I knew she was going to go far in this competition. Lea is a beautiful, graceful and elegant dancer, and for 53 she looks amazing! She moves weIl and looks beautiful doing so. She and her partner Artem, were adorable. If she and Artem would have taken more risks, I think they would have made it to the semi finals. Did Tommy Chong deserve to make it over Lea? Hell no. But the votes just weren’t on Lea’s side.

Tommy Chong, an infamous actor and comedian, who is also 76 years old. Was he the best dancer? No. Did he dance well for his age? Yes. Did he deserve to make it to the semi finals? God no. He had a hard time memorizing routines throughout the season, he probably lost a lot of brain cells doing you know what… Anyways, I never expected him to last that long, way to shock me Tommy.

Bethany Mota, the youtube blogger and my personal favorite. I’ve got a lot to say about my BFF Beth. One, she got screwed out of making it to the finals. We all know she should have been third or second place. She grew the most out of all the contestants and she was the most versatile out of the women, she channels a character and executes it. She can do cutesy dances as well as intense and serious dances. Bethany has swag, elegance, and this charming attitude and likability when she dances, she’s just fun to watch and you can’t turn away. Bethany got screwed in the end, she got the hardest dance and had an “error” with the set and crew. Was the error planned? Was it already planned for Bethany to receive 4th place? Personally I think so. Plus Bethany’s freestyle was epic and dramatic, and one of the best dances I’ve seen on this show.
Janel Parrish, ahhhh Mona, my favorite Pretty Little Liar!! She is the luckiest girl on DWTS cause her partner is the one and only Valentin Chmerkovskiy, and their chemistry is so strong I wouldn't be surprised if they started dating in real life. When Janel dances she plays each role perfectly, she can be fierce, romantic, sweet, sassy, elegant, sexy, and even crazy. You name is Janel can do it, which is why it so shocking she is in third place, right behind the one trick pony, Sadie Robertson, especially since Janel got the most perfect scores all season long. Janel tells a story every time she dances and every time she does that she embodies each character flawlessly. That’s why she’s so captivating to watch. She got better week after week and props to her for performing the final night with a back injury. She deserved second place and not third.
Sadie Robertson, the Duck Dynasty princess, and she got paired up with Mark Ballas, who is the main reason why she did so “well” in this competition. I still can’t believe she goes to a high school where dancing is prohibited, it’s like real life Footloose. I never agreed with the judges scores for Sadie, I think they all saw something I couldn’t see. Her second dance annoyed me to pieces. It was a jazz routine to “She’s Country” by Jason Aldean. Jazz and country do not mix, that was a hot mess of a routine Mark Ballas. The most annoying part about that routine was that she got praised for it except from Len because he’s a smart man. What I’ve noticed is that Sadie is a one trick pony, all the the choreography seems the same but maybe that’s all on Mark though. Throughout the competition Sadie performed in flats or barefoot, she hardly ever wore heels like the rest of the women competitors. Sadie also can not dance the romantic and sexy dances well because you can just tell how awkward and uncomfortable she feels. I don’t think Sadie should have made it this far in the competition, but she had a lot of fan votes I guess.

Saving the best for last, the amazing Alfonso Ribeiro, aka Carlton from Fresh Prince of Bel Air. The clear winner of this season, and I called that from day one. When Alfonso dances, he performs every step well and has this amazing energy and the best facial expressions. You can't help but be impressed when you watch him dance. There’s something about Alfonso when he dances, he just has this amazing confidence and charisma and he makes everything look great and he can do anything. Week 4 was when we all saw what we were waiting for, “The Carlton,” and it was flawless. Alfonso is always amazing to watch, he dances well and entertains the audience. He tells a story and executes every dance well! And he has improved since Week 1, when he performed his first dance again, it was perfect. The jive got the score it deserved the first week, a perfect score. This season was amazing and the contestants were very entertaining and talented. However no one stood a chance against Alfonso and he was the clear front runner since day one. I can only hope next season is just as good!

ipsy Glam Bag October Edition!

by , in
Yes I realize it is now December, and yes I'm finally writing about my October Glam Bag, yes I realize I have a November and December one to do too, life has just been busy, you feel me? Anyways let's talk about this October Glam Bag!
The theme of this Glam Bag was Beauty Candy, which I thought was cute and clever because there were some very sweet things in there! In this bag I received the City Color Be Matte Lipstick, Doll 10 Beauty H2Glo Highlighter, Figs & Rouge Hand Cream, ModelCo VOLUMEYES Extreme Black Mascara and Skyn Iceland Mini Glacial Cleansing Cloths.

The first item I'm going to start off with is the City Color Be Matte Lipstick, which was a cappuccino color. I liked the color a lot, it was a nice brown shade that goes well with an every day look. The lipstick was also very smooth and felt really nice on my lips.

The next item I got was the Doll 10 Beauty H2Glo Highlighter! I am in love with this product and it has joined my permanent daily beauty routine. Now before I got this product, I had never used a highlighter at all. Boy was I missing out, a highlighter is essential! This product makes my skin glow and I'm not going to lie, it makes me feel really pretty. This is my favorite item in the entire Glam Bag.

Next we have the Figs & Rouge Mango Mandarin scented hand cream. Now the first thing I thought when I saw this was, oh great another hand cream. Please let this one smell better. Let's just say it didn't smell that good but it smelled way better than the Mitchell and Peach luxury hand cream. When you first open the hand cream the smell is overwhelming but then it gets slightly better over time. It did make my hands slightly softer. I'm starting to think I'm not that big of a fan of hand creams, and I'm just going to stick with my Bath & Body Works lotion instead.

Alright then we have the ModelCo VOLUMEYES Extreme Black Mascara and I was impressed with this mascara. I was cursed with short eyelashes, so I have to curl them, apply primer and then apply several different mascaras to make them look long. However with the ModelCo mascara, I was able to have long and full eyelashes just by using the one mascara. This product works a lot better than my Urban Decay and Too Faced mascaras.

Now the last item in my bag was the Skyn Iceland Mini Glacial Cleansing Cloths. Now I love cleansing wipes and makeup removing wipes, I use them on a daily basis to wash the make up off my face. I normally stay away from the cleansing wipes because I have sensitive skin but the Skyn Iceland Cleansing Cloths didn't bother my face at all, they were a little sudsy but that wasn't a problem at all. The wipes took off my make up well and I really enjoyed the product.

As always my look using all the products in the October Glam Bag.

Overall, I'd rate my second Glam Bag 3.5 out of 5 stars. An improvement from the bag I received the month before! I can't wait to see what's inside my November (and December) Glam Bag! Feel free to join me on ipsy by clicking here! Also if you're already on ipsy feel free to connect with me! Until next time!
